Interior Alaska Land Trust--Board of Directors

Land Trusts provide private land owners a way to protect, in perpetuity, the valuable public qualities of their land holdings while gaining some financial benefits as well. Land Trusts serve the public purpose of preserving valuable open and scenic space, historic and recreational values, and biological diversity present in our our communities. As the interior of Alaska grows in population many of the qualities that distinguish its beautiful natural environment Alaska may be lost. The Land Trust can help preserve some of those qualities.

	A 30+ year resident of Alaska, Mike earns his living in the construction industry. In addition to serving on the board of the Interior Alaska Land Trust, he is a board member of the Fairbanks Trail Commission. Mike's interests include farm preservation, trails and German Shepherds.

	Carolyn is an attorney with an interest in natural resource, land use and conservation law. After spending the summer of 2005 working for a conservation organization in Juneau, she decided to move to Alaska in 2006 after graduating from Vermont Law School, where she obtained both her Juris Doctor and Master of Studies in Environmental Law. Carolyn enjoys skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, and canoeing, and is excited to be putting her skills and passions to use by helping to preserve open space in the Fairbanks community.

	Martha is a plant biologist with an interest in a variety of ecological issues. She came to Alaska in 1982, and has worked in the Arctic in Alaska, Canada and Russia. She enjoys cross-country skiing and camping with her family. She was one of the original board members for the Interior Alaska Land Trust, and is interested in using private land ownership to further conservation goals.

	Merritt serves, since 1997, as the Senior Consultant and CEO of Innovation Consulting, Inc., an educational organization management consultancy. He is a founding member of the Interior Alaska Land Trust. Merritt says . . . 	Nicole worked for the Jefferson Land Trust in western Washington, where she helped them prepare for Land Trust Alliance accreditation. She also worked for the Alaska Bird Observatory and brings valuable experience in working with non-profits and land conservation to the Interior Alaska Land Trust.

	Travis works as the nongame biologist for the AK Dept. of Fish and Game for central, western, and northern Alaska (Regions III & V). He is based in the Fairbanks ADF&G Regional Office, but frequently travels throughout both regions to accomplish the mission of the Nongame Program. He is currently an active participant in Boreal Partners in Flight, serves as an executive committee member of the Alaska Raptor Group, and is the Region III falconry representative for ADF&G.
